Which college(s) did you graduate from (please include degrees & majors)? California State University Fullerton: Bachelors in Liberal Studies and Masters in English. Also, I attained a Reading Specialist Credential K-12 in 2006 at CSUF.
What year did you start at Rowland Unified School District? I started my career in the RUSD when I was sixteen years old. I was a teacher's aide at Shelyn (Go Sharks) and then I moved to Alvarado Intermediate as a guidance specialist. I also taught remedial reading and E.L.D. during summer school. I then taught at La Seda, which closed when Fajardo closed and taught fourth, fifth and sixth grade at Villacorta Elementary. I love being at Telesis and having so many wonderful colleagues that I have worked, or coached with throughout the years.
What district teams have you served on? I am proud to share that I have been on every pilot program from Social Studies, Math , ELA, and Science throughout the years. I also rolled out the ELA Common Core Curriculum with Mrs. Cadena more than a decade ago! The past two years I have been on the ELA RUSD Power Standards Committee for Sixth Grade, as well as for the the Report Card Committee (grades 6th- and 7th).

What is your favorite thing about Telesis? My favorite part about Telesis is the collaboration and leadership committee that plan and work on best instructional practices. Every teacher has a voice and we think of many ways to support students socially as well as academically.
What were you like as a child or student? I was a shy student who loved school and my teachers. I was quiet and I was afraid to ask questions and I struggled but would always work hard with the support of my family. I spoke Spanish at the age of three, and I always admire learning new languages and cultures.
Favorite person in the world? My mother is my favorite person. She has taught me perseverance, dedication and to do things with honesty. She always is patient and kind, but she instilled in me to work hard and to share knowledge and kindness to all.
